*USPIRG Democracy Program Director position*

America's democracy is in trouble. Elections and policy decisions should
be based on competition and debate in which the merits of one's ideas
and abilities, not the size of one's wallet, dictate the size of one's
influence. Today, the opposite is true. Ordinary people have less and
less influence, public decisions are skewed towards the interests of
those with the most money to spend, and public confidence in government
is crumbling. The public has indicated time and time again they want to
rein in big money in politics, but four decades of misguided court
decisions have stripped the public's right to impose even the most
common sense reforms.

In this challenging environment, democracy activists must be smarter
than ever, organizing the public around shorter term solutions that give
ordinary people more leverage in the political process, while building a
popular movement towards fundamental structural reform.

USPIRG is looking for a Democracy Program Director to run federal and
multi-state campaigns that engage the public, bring more people into the
democratic process in the immediate term, and build long-term momentum
for a stronger democracy. Click here for full job description

*About USPIRG*

When consumers are cheated or the voices of ordinary citizens are
drowned out by special interest lobbyists, The United States Public
Interest Research Group (USPIRG) speaks up and takes action. We uncover
threats to public health and wellbeing and fight to end them, using the
time-tested tools of investigative research, media exposés, grassroots
organizing, advocacy and litigation. USPIRG's mission is to deliver
persistent, result-oriented public interest activism that protects
consumers, encourages a fair, sustainable economy, and fosters
responsive, democratic government.
