"DGA challenges Connecticut's campaign finance restrictions"

News
<http://ctmirror.org/dga-sues-connecticut-over-campaign-finance-restrictions/>
from CT:

The Democratic Governors Association, which expects to heavily
advertise this fall to support the re-election of Gov. Dannel P.
Malloy, filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday challenging the
constitutionality of how Connecticut regulates independent campaign
    expenditures.

The association seeks an injunction barring the State Elections
Enforcement Commission, the chief state's attorney's office and the
attorney general from enforcing what it says are overly broad rules
that could expose the group to an accusation of illegal coordination
    with the Malloy campaign.

"South Carolina Supreme Court Rules that Minor Parties Don't Need to
Get Permission from Primary Voters to Continue Nominating by
    Convention" <http://electionlawblog.org/?p=60843>

Richard Winger explains
<http://www.ballot-access.org/2014/04/south-carolina-supreme-court-rules-that-minor-parties-dont-need-to-get-permission-from-primary-voters-to-continue-nominating-by-convention/>.

One interesting aspect of the case considers how to interpret laws
passed by jurisdictions formerly subject to Voting Rights Act
preclearance that put the laws on holding pending preclearance.

Via Bloomberg BNA, you can read the opinion here

The judge thinks the Supreme Court's /Citizens United-McCutcheon/ line
of cases is wrong, but he is bound to follow the line.
