Dear Colleagues,
There is apparently a new app that allows you to scan a product to determine the partisanship of the producer, as determined by campaign contributions. See story here<http://theweek.com/speedreads/index/267039/speedreads-this-app-will-let-you-know-which-political-parties-are-really-benefiting-when-you-buy-groceries>.
I am looking forward to discussing the merits of disclosure and shareholder approval when I present my paper<http://www.rochester.edu/college/psc/primo/PrabhatPrimoRiskyBusinessAug2014.pdf> at a reserach panel<http://www.apsanet.org/mtgs/program_2014/program.cfm?event=1619088> this Saturday at the APSA meetings in Washington, but for now, suffice it to say that this sort of app is a great advertisement for why calls for greater disclosure and shareholder approval in the U.S. are likely to hurt, not helps, shareholders, contrary to the claims of reformers.
Best,
Dave
