[EL] query re Meg Whitman campaign quality

I recall reading or hearing someone saying that the reason Meg Whitman 
lost the CA governor's race despite her great money advantage is that 
she did not hone her candidate skills through participation in the 
"money primary."  I want to give credit to this idea to whoever said it, 
but I cannot find a citation anywhere.

If anyone has any leads as to who may have offered this analysis, please 
let me know.
