[EL] Academic Email Disclosure

I am resisting the urge to ask, "What is the big deal with compulsory
disclosure of academic email? After all, everyone knows the overwhelming
power the academy holds over opinions held, and actions taken, in civic
life. And shouldn't there be particular public interest in the goings-on at
publicly financed institutions...?"

I say "I am resisting the urge" because a) the listserv has enough snark,
and b) my opinion on such matters is so opposite that I can barely get-out
the words, above, even to make a point.
