You can find the opinion here
<http://www.courts.ca.gov/opinions/documents/B251793.PDF>. Justice Mosk,
concurring but expressing some doubts, adds this footnote: "It does seem
incongruous that the injunction perpetuates those in office who were
selected by what is deemed to be an election that violated the law and
prevents the seating of a minority candidate who was elected at the last
election."

Federal District Court Denies $2 Million Attorneys Fees Request to

You can find Judge Bates' 35-page thoughtful opinion here
<http://t.co/eCZMDOd7Nk> (via Mike Scarcella
<https://twitter.com/MikeScarcella/status/471744823519883264>). The
judge's main point is that Congress did not intend attorneys fees in
cases in which a plaintiff was not enforcing voting rights under the
Fifteenth Amendment but instead was seeking to /overturn/ a
congressional statute enforcing voting rights.

It seems a sensible result to me, but it raises a number of issues of
first impression, so there could be an appeal.
