[EL] Voter turnout

I think that most in the academic and research community find Prof. McDonald's numbers, found here -- http://www.electproject.org/2014g -- to be the most credible and comprehensive. I certainly do (and big thanks to Mike for compiling this data and putting it out there).

By his estimates, based on data currently available, national turnout in 2014 was 36.6%. That may increase slightly as a few more ballots come in, but it likely won't increase significantly.

Estimates on nationwide voter turnout in the 2014 elections vary widely in news accounts, though everyone seems to place it below 50%. Is there a fairly reliable estimate of voter turnout available in academic circles?
