[EL] Al Jazeera America article on voter suppression

It’s not private ownership. It’s public ownership by a country in which no one possesses the franchise. And I wasn’t talking about their world coverage—I was talking about their lecturing us about the franchise.

To be clear, I have no dog in the fight on voter ID. I just find getting lectured by the al Thani family about the franchise humorous in a manner similar to be lectured on discretion by the Kardashians.

So Dr Maurer what is your point.

I suspect the same could be said about Fox, the New York Times, Bloomberg, nbc cbs abc etc.

There is no pretense about democracy in private ownership.

In our democracy we are lucky to have a pesky first amendment that encourages points of view by including foreign nationals from Fox to AJ. Even Dr Moon's point of view has a place at the table.

Actually AJ has a level of excellence in world coverage that puts all to shame. Does AJ have a point of view as the others-- of course. That is what Democracy fosters. And aren't we lucky.

A story on voting rights from a media outlet owned by the royal family of Qatar raises the question of how broad was the franchise that voted them into office?
