“The current Congress is not equipped really to do anything,” she

of legislature that we should, where members, whatever party they

LAT
<http://www.latimes.com/local/cityhall/la-me-special-interests-20150216-story.html#page=1>:

The debate, and Feng’s role in it, is unusual for L.A. politics.
Feng, who heads the government watchdog group California Common
Cause, frequently raises alarms about campaign spending and special
interests. This time around, she’s fielding questions about her
committee’s political fundraising — and whether those donors are
seeking to curry favor with L.A.’s elected officials, including Wesson.

Asked about the $25,000 donated by billboard firm Clear Channel, she
said she would meet with other campaign officials to discuss whether
to keep the money. “Now that you’ve raised that issue with me, I’m
going to call another meeting,” she said.

The latest
<http://prwatch.org/news/2015/02/12734/walker-wisconsin-supreme-court-recuse>:

The prosecutor leading the probe into possible coordination between
Governor Scott Walker’s campaign and outside groups has asked some
Wisconsin Supreme Court justices to recuse themselves from hearing a
    challenge to the investigation.

A notation in court records titled “Motion for Recusal and Notice of
Ethical Concerns” indicates that on February 12, Special Prosecutor
Francis Schmitz filed a sealed motion for one or more of the Supreme
Court justices to recuse themselves from the case. Schmitz was
previously on George W. Bush’s shortlist for U.S. Attorney and said
    that he voted for Walker.

WaPo:

At one Manhattan fundraiser for Bush at the Park Avenue home of
private-equity titan Henry Kravis this week, about 25 attendees paid
a minimum of $100,000 each just to get in the door. It’s one of six
events for Bush’s PACs — including one next weekend in Palm Beach —
    with such a price tag.

“I think they will come up with an eye-popping figure,” said veteran
    GOP fundraiser Fred Malek.

Bush’s press for dollars has been so intense — averaging one
fundraiser a day — that his Republican competitors do not even claim
they can compete at his level and acknowledge that he is the
    unrivaled financial leader.
