Good evening,

My name is Bridgett King and I am an assistant professor in the
political science department at Auburn University. My colleague,
Kathleen Hale, and I are in the process of working on an edited book
titled, /Why Don't Americans Vote? Causes and Consequences /for
ABC-CLIO. The book will consist of 20 essays of approximately 3,250
words each that include a relevant table/graphic and cover a variety of
topics pertaining to registration and voting.

The book is scheduled to be published next summer in anticipation of the
2016 presidential election in November. We are currently in the process
of identifying potential contributors and based on your research
interests, think the planned content for the book may be of interest to
you. A complete list of the chapters is attached.

If you are interested in being a contributor, we ask that you submit an
abstract (no more than 300 words) describing the proposed content of the
chapter(s) and include a description of the table/graphic (including a
reference for the data source) that will be included. With the abstract
please include your name, title and institution. Abstracts can be
submitted by email to bak0020 at auburn.edu with the subject line: Why
Don’t Americans Vote?

The deadline for abstract submission is April 13, 2015. Once we
identify the abstracts that best fit the overall tone of the book we
will notify authors of their acceptance by May 1, 2015. The first drafts
of all contributed chapters are due July 1, 2015.

If you, yourself are not interested, but know someone who might be, feel
free to forward this email and encourage them to submit or contact me
with any questions they may have. If you have any questions or need
additional information, feel free to contact me as well.

Kathleen and I are very excited about the project and believe this is an
amazing opportunity to produce a product that will be a timely and
accessible discussion of contemporary issues in voter registration and
participation.

Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from and working with
you in the future.

Best,

Bridgett
