[EL] Jeb and the Field

"If Jeb wants the nomination, he will have to appeal to rank-and-file
voters. [ ] The days of scaring off the field with fundraising totals are
long gone, post CU & SpeechNow."

I can tell you: This was always the point of such cases.

And this is as it should be -- appealing to the rank and file voters ...
with money no object; no barriers to debate.

As Jim Bopp once put it, as well as anyone, "These are the People's
elections, not the candidates' elections."

My concern now -- from the point of view of my side of the aisle: Reform
Conservatives now own Republican minds once the members take office. See
recent TPP machinations; see the Corker Bill waiving the Senate's check on
the Executive; see the subtitle of Arthur Brooks' s latest book.

But that, too, is a problem to be solved with more speech, not less.

Nota bene: All the best to Allen & his team at CCP before the SCOTUS.
