[EL] Telecommuting Legal Research Jobs for 2Ls & 3Ls - Campaign Finance Institute

Dear Colleagues,

           The Campaign Finance Institute would like to hire 2L and 3L law
students for a part time, paid, telecommuting legal research
assistantship.   The position is described more fully in the attached
flyer.

          CFI is in the midst of an exciting project to create an
historical database of state campaign finance laws.  The database contains
more than 500 fields for each state for every two years from 1996-2014.  It
will also merge seamlessly with an earlier database that dates back to
1976.

          The new database covers the laws for legislative and
gubernatorial candidates, political parties and interest groups, campaign
receipts and expenditures, independent spending, disclosure, and public
financing – among other subjects.  We expect this tool will enable
researchers for the first time to have a running start on any analysis they
may wish to undertake on the effects of varying campaign finance laws
across states and time.  It will be a major benefit to anyone in this field.

           When finished, the full database will be available freely for
download.  A version will also be configured for public look-up queries
online.  We plan to update the data every two years.

           More than twenty states have been entered so far.  We want to
complete the data entry this academic year. But to get there, we will need
help.

           Would you please distribute the attached flyer to potentially
interested students? We are giving preference to students who have some
experience with election law or related subjects, but will look at others.
We are only considering 2Ls and 3Ls for the fall semester because we do
want students who have had enough law school training to work with the
primary source material.
