[EL] Florida question

today the Florida Republican Party set new rules for candidates who want to be on the presidential primary ballot next year.  They must either attend a fund-raising in Orlando Nov. 13-14; or pay $25,000; or submit 125 signatures of registered Republicans from each of the 27 US House districts.
But the Florida US House district boundaries are unsettled just now.  The legislature was ordered by the State Supreme Court to redraw them, but the legislature gave up, so now a lower state court is drawing them, subject to approval from the State Supreme Court.
The list of candidates to be on the ballot is due Nov. 30, so presumably the signatures are due before that date.  The party probably assumes no one will try the signature route, but if anyone does, the party would somehow need to check the validity of the signatures.  If anyone is in Florida or has contacts with the Florida Republican Party, maybe you know if the party thought about these things.  The new rules don't seem to be on the party's webpage. Richard Winger 415-922-9779 PO Box 470296, San Francisco Ca 94147
