To colleagues on the Election Law listserv.

Having been prompted by a number of political scientists who are looking for a data-oriented listserv in the area of election administration and reform, I have created a listserv hosted at MIT titled Election Sciences. Please see the description below and subscribe if you are interested.

Best,

Charles

[Here's the announcement]
The Election Sciences listserv (ElectionSciences at mit.edu<mailto:ElectionSciences at mit.edu>) is designed as a forum for scholars interested in election sciences, a scholarly field studying election administration and conduct in a scientific fashion (broadly defined). The list is not limited to any one disciplinary specialty or subfield. Election Sciences is necessarily interdisciplinary, with questions that cross the disciplines of political science, law, public administration, computer science, engineering, and other fields. Scholarship has been concentrated in the United States but there is increasing interest in election administration and conduct worldwide, and international scholars are encouraged to join the list.

The list is intended first of all to be a way to build community and collegiality in a small but growing field. Appropriate topics include but are not limited to calls for participation in conferences; announcements of new data sources, and statistical and analytical tools; and questions about data acquisition and analysis.

Topics related to election law should be sent to our sister list, the Election Law listserv (Law-election at department-lists.uci.edu<mailto:Law-election at department-lists.uci.edu>). We expect there will be some overlap with the Political Methodology listserv (http://polmeth.wustl.edu/mailing.php).

You can subscribe to the Election Sciences list by going to the following URL and filling out the form: http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/ElectionSciences. If you are having problems using the web form, please e-mail me and I will add you to the list. (However, I would prefer if you could try to subscribe yourself.)

List postings will be available either on a continuous basis or in a weekly digest.

Posting will be moderated, to minimize spam and to keep postings on topic.

Enjoy!

Charles
