And most of that data is near-useless. Back in 2001 I was part of a team that looked at Florida voter roll data on race. Florida, as I believe is the case in most such states, does not require the voter to report his/her race, but it does require the county official to record the voter's race. So the data used to be filled in by the county official receiving the form. Now that most forms are received by mail, the county official was still required to fill in the race. So you can imagine how bad the accuracy of the data is. It was much more accurate to extrapolate from CVAP, despite all the issues involved there too.
