I’ve been asked to pass this along:

Commissioner Ellen L. Weintraub, one of six commissioners serving at the Federal Election Commission, is seeking a talented law student for a part-time Law Clerk position during the Fall 2016 semester. This clerkship provides an exciting opportunity to work in depth on campaign finance and First Amendment issues. The law clerk will be asked to assist in legal research related to enforcement matters, advisory opinion requests, and other policy issues that come before the Commission. The law clerk will also have an opportunity to learn more about how the Commission operates by attending the Commission’s open meetings and executive sessions.

Eligibility and requirements. Applicants should be current law students and have an interest in campaign finance issues. Strong legal research and Bluebook skills are required, along with a desire to work in a small, collaborative office. Clerkships require a commitment of at least 12-15 hours per week during the semester, and last approximately ten weeks. We strongly encourage applications from all qualified individuals, without regard to race, color, gender, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, national origin, marital status, citizenship, disability, or veteran status.

Compensation. A modest stipend or assistance obtaining externship or academic credit is available.

How to Apply. Interested applicants should email an application package that includes a resume, cover letter, and legal writing sample (5-8 pages) to commissionerweintraub at fec.gov<mailto:commissionerweintraub at fec.gov> with “Law Clerk Application” in the subject line. No phone calls, please.
