I am organizing a conference-in-a-conference at the 2014 Southern Political
Science Association meeting in new Orleans to be held January 12-14. More
information about the conference is here:

http://spsa.net/annual-meeting/2017-conference-overview/

Predictably, the SPSA has extended the proposal deadline to Sept. 13, so
please consider sending me a proposal for a paper or better yet an entire
panel by next week!

CONFERENCE IN THE CONFERENCE AT SPSA 2017

ELECTION SCIENCES

Democracy does not exist without free, fair, and transparent elections. In
the wake of the 2000 presidential election, the media, government, public,
academia and legal communities have given increasing attention to how
elections are conducted in the United States. How can we be assured that
voters’ intentions are properly reflected in election outcomes? How can
elections be conducted with improved efficiency utilizing new technologies?
What are the determinants of voter participation and vote choice? Scholars
addressing these activities are coalescing into an emerging field
called Election
Sciences.

A goal of the Election Sciences conference-in-a-conference at the Southern
Political Science Association meeting is to build a community of Election
Sciences scholars by facilitating a conversation on research projects that
broadly touch on the conduct of elections. Pending interest, the
conference-in-a-conference is anticipated to be structured as a series of
panels to be held on one day.

Scholars interested in participating should send a paper proposal with a
title and an abstract of no more than 250 words to the organizer of the
conference-in-a-conference: Michael McDonald (michael.mcdonald at ufl.edu),
Associate Professor at the University of Florida. Please include "SPSA" in
the email header. You do not need to submit directly to the SPSA
conference. The deadline for consideration is September 13, 2016.
