In July I alerted the list to the no-host dinner sponsored each year during the American Political Science Association convention by the Law and Political Process Study Group, which this year is conducting two panels at the convention. The dinner will be Friday, September 1, at Sam's Grill<http://www.samsgrillsf.com/>, 374 Bush Street, San Francisco. It is the same restaurant we used two years ago for the dinner, and I believe everyone enjoyed it. It is an excellent old-fashioned place that emphasizes seafood, though it also has meat and vegetarian dishes. It is pretty reasonably priced, especially by San Francisco standards.
The dinner is for participants on the panels (though entirely optional) and other friends of the group. The main qualification for being a friend of the group is being willing to have dinner with us, so feel free to bring a companion and to recommend the dinner to others.
I'd like to give the restaurant a good estimate of the number who will attend by the end of this week and a firm count by Monday of next week. If you would like to attend, please let me know by noon (Pacific time) on Friday. Don't forget to mention if you will be bringing a companion, and please mention the companion's name. If I hear from you after noon on Friday but before noon next Monday, I'll try to get you in but can't guarantee it. After noon on Monday, depending on how strict the restaurant is on the number, I may only be able to put you on a waiting list in case of cancellations.
