[EL] A note about election law listserv passwords

Today is the first of the month, and each month on the first of the month you receive an automated email message about your listserv subscription (which you can use to change addresses, unsubscribe, etc.)
Within that email message is a reminder of the password which you have used to access these features on the list. That password is sent in an unencrypted way. Anyone who sees that email can see your password.
There’s no way for us to turn off this feature sending the password other than to stop the monthly reminders---which I would rather not do, because then I would get even more questions about how to change addresses, unsubscribe, etc.
So…..whatever password you use for the listserv should be unique to the listserv, and not a password (or like a password) you use for more sensitive websites.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and thanks to a list member for bringing this up.
Rick
