[EL] "Monstrous Gerrymander" mistake

Intrestingly, Gerry lost the governor's race in 1812 to Caleb Strong,
allegedly in part due to controversy over the partisan nature of the
redistricting plan. That happened earlier in the year -- before the 1840's
election dates were quite erratic and irregular, and the presidential
selection process where Madison won with Gerry was after the state
election in Massachusetts.
