Dear Colleagues:
For those teaching an election law course next semester, we are pleased to let you know that the second edition of Gardner/Charles Election Law in the American Political System is available: http://www.wklegaledu.com/gardner-election-law-2<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.wklegaledu.com_gardner-2Delection-2Dlaw-2D2&d=DwMGaQ&c=imBPVzF25OnBgGmVOlcsiEgHoG1i6YHLR0Sj_gZ4adc&r=d0QtrWt2UsK3E_3jflzx-PHJlNtl73NzZkWTMFdtu-A&m=padmurPq0Sxg7z_L687zJ3xERfXPFPMHMtF-nwM4DyU&s=uU8i4340OiXpPZ7KPWbk6o7NBNkEnabuxA9nqQs6svc&e=>. The second edition builds upon the theoretical, doctrinal, and social science approach of the first edition. The book is logically organized, starting with an exploration of the theoretical foundations of democracy; the right to vote and voting qualifications; representation and the design of electoral structures; race and the VRA; the law of political parties; political speech and campaign finance; and election administration.
We have updated the book in a manner that more clearly identifies some of the underlying structures and institutions that shape American democracy. Additionally, we have revised the book to reflect current developments in the domains of partisan gerrymandering; voting rights; campaign finance; alternative voting systems; and election administration. Adopters will also have access to an instructor-friendly teacher’s manual as well as supplemental materials and exercises to make the materials as accessible as possible for the students. The book is available in hardcopy and as an e-book.
If you have any questions, please let us know. Jim and Guy
