Has anyone studied the question of whether it is legal in most states for an individual, who has publicly announced that he is seeking the presidential nomination of both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party, to qualify for the presidential primary ballot of both those parties?
The true candidates in presidential primaries are candidates seeking to be delegates to a national presidential convention.  Theoretically the presidential candidate who wants the nomination of both parties would line up Republican candidates for delegate in the Republican primary, and Democratic candidates for delegate in the Democratic primary.
There was talk about Dwight Eisenhower doing this both in 1948 and 1952, but as far as I am aware, no one of any fame has ever tried to get the nomination of both major parties since George Washington was the nominee of both the Federalist Party and the Democratic-Republican Party. Richard Winger 415-922-9779 PO Box 470296, San Francisco Ca 94147
