Hi all,
As I just noted in my annual “housekeeping” message, it is possible to access the archivea of all the Election Law listserv posts from June 2011 to the present. (The message also lists rules about citing and quoting these posts.)
Before the listserv moved to UCI, it was housed at Loyola Law School. Dan Lowenstein and I started the list using Loyola’s servers in 1995 (I believe), but we migrated to the “mailman” program in 1998.
Loyola has been generously keeping the 1998-2011 archives on its servers. But in the last year there was a migration of systems and those archives were lost.
Some 209 random messages from the 1998-2011 period are available via the Internet Wayback Machine at this link:
https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://mailman.lls.edu/pipermail/election-law/*<https://web.archive.org/web/*/http:/mailman.lls.edu/pipermail/election-law/*>
I’m hoping, but not expecting, that someone else out there might have downloaded the 1998-2011 archives at some point. If you have, please let me know, and we will find a way to make them accessible again to everyone.
Otherwise, I’m afraid most of those messages are now gone.
Sorry for those who were hoping to write a history of the listserv!
