As many of you know, several months ago I launched Democracy Docket<https://www.democracydocket.com/>, a site committed to shine a spotlight on voter suppression and offer expert opinion on how to fight it in all of its forms. The site also provides detailed information about important litigation that will shape our elections, voting and democratic institutions for years to come.
In the last few months, Democracy Docket has become one of the most influential platforms for progressive advocacy and information about voting rights, elections, redistricting and democracy.
As we head towards the general election, we are opening the platform to opinions and thought pieces from the progressive and academic community. Our goal is to focus on democracy issues, broadly construed. Some examples:
-Studies regarding voting, voting rights, voting laws and practices.
-Opinion pieces on the importance of voting, democracy, election process and administration and fair elections.
-Updates on research or findings—whether purely academic or observational in the area of voting, voter participation, or turnout.
If you have something that you would like to publish on DemocracyDocket.com<https://www.democracydocket.com/>, we will make the process is quick and easy:
1. Send the piece to submissions at democracydocket.com<mailto:submissions at democracydocket.com>.
2. We will review it within 24 hours and if all is good, we will let you know and agree on a date and time to publish.
3. We are not looking to edit your work, so as long as it fits the site, meets our overall editorial standards, and we think our reader would find it interesting, we will be good to proceed.
4. We are happy to post things that you may have also posted or published elsewhere (such as on medium or your own website) as long as it does not violate anyone’s copyright. For our part, we will require a perpetual free license to publish it on Democracy Docket, but otherwise leave you with rights to publish elsewhere.
I hope this is a resource you find useful and I look forward to educating people on the challenges and solutions facing our democracy.
Marc Elias
