Dear Election Law Scholars,
Currently there isn't any programming related to Election Law on the Tentative Draft Program for the 2020 Southeast Association of Law Schools (SEALS) Annual Conference. I'm considering submitting a proposal for either a panel or a discussion group (or possibly both!), with a particular focus on Voting Rights and the 2020 Election, construed broadly. We can even squeeze campaign finance and/or redistricting in there, if interest exists. It's late in the process, but the submissions period has not yet closed.
If you are planning on attending SEALS, and would be interested in potentially participating on a panel or a discussion group relating to Election Law, please let me know. A panel tends to be comprised of fewer people, and often involves circulation and presentation of works-in-progress (though it can instead involve panelists offering short thoughts, and then discussing questions presented by the moderator). A discussion group tends to be much larger and less formal, involving free-flowing discussion of each participant's idea for a potential article or an early-stage work, and potentially other hot topics. If you think you'd like to discuss a particular work-in-progress on a panel, please let me know a working title.
SEALS is a very friendly, informal conference, and a great place to catch up with other scholars in your field. Please respond to me directly, by e-mail (mmorley at law.fsu.edu), rather than to the entire listserv, to avoid spamming people. The conference is being held this year at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott, July 30 - August 5. The exact timing of any Election Law events within that period - as well as final approval of any proposals - would be determined by the conference organizers. There's a registration fee to attend the conference; information is available at http://sealslawschools.org/<http://sealslawschools.org/seals-2013/>.
