[EL] Afghan election official political asylum

Dear Election Law Listserv colleagues,
This morning I received a heartbreaking email from an Afghan man who I met when he visited the Common Cause DC office in January 2020 as part of a delegation of Afghan election officials, hosted by the U.S. State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program. Because of his decades of work in support of women's rights, minority rights, broader human rights and democracy, his life and the lives of his wife and children are now in jeopardy. He's seeking assistance with obtaining political asylum and resettling his family in the U.S. Unfortunately, because I've never done international work, I don't have strong relationships with State Department officials or individuals who do internationally focused NGO work. At this point, it seems the best thing I can do to help him is reach out to anyone I know who might be able to assist him directly, or connect him with someone who can. I know that some of you have done international elections work and might have connections in the State Department, NGOs that do international elections work, or immigration law world who could perhaps help this individual and his family. I welcome any suggestions or ideas any of you might have. I'm happy to provide more detailed information about this individual if you email me. Thank you! Sincerely,
