Subject: Basic reading on American govt

I have a couple of international students in my "Law of American
Democracy" class -- both already have law degrees from their home
countries, but are working on master's degrees at American University.
One came to me after the first class to ask if I had suggestions for any
background reading he could do to understand the American government
system and politics.

Should I just send him to the campus bookstore and tell him to look for
the text used in the Pol Sci 101 course? Or do you have some other
suggestions?
