Those who work in the redistricting business can surely see a connection
between these two subjects. But there is a different connection: Yesterday,
news about the important redistricting decision in Georgia v. Ashcroft
was overshadowed by news about the sodomy decision in Lawrence v. Texas.
Go back in history to June 30, 1986: news about the important redistricting
decision in Davis v. Bandemer (recognizing, but placing a high bar
on claims of, partisan gerrymandering) were overshadowed by news about the
sodomy decision in Bowers v. Hardwick. (Bowers was overturned
in Lawrence yesterday>)
