James Buckley's precedent may have had a bad day yesterday, depending on
your point of view, but at least there is no room for debate about his
brother's teachings.  Scalia was correct.  See William F. Buckley, Jr.,
"A reply to Robert Hutchins", Rumbles Left and Right, p.134 (1963) ("I
am obliged to confess that I should sooner live in a society governed by
the first two thousand names in the Boston telephone directory than in a
society governed by the two thousand faculty members of Harvard
University. . . . ")
