The Loyola listserver has bounced hundreds of attempts to send the latest e-mail virus out to list members.  Unfortunately, it appears that yesterday one message containing the virus did get through---a message from Ned Foley with the subject "hi" and an attachment containing the virus.  The best way to protect yourself from viruses is to have up-to-date software, and do not open attachments that appears suspicious, especially those ending with a .pif or .scr.

News of the day 2/2/04

"FEC to Consider Activities of 527s"

This Roll Call article (paid subscription required) talks about the upcoming controversies over 527s at the FEC (see my many blog posts in the past week on this subject below), with a focus on Democratic FEC commissioner Scott Thomas, who appears to hold the balance of power on this issue. Today's issue also features 527s Thrived in 2003, Two House Commitees Report Robust Fundraising, and this column by Stuart Rothenberg on 527s and MCFL.

"Judge Takes Aim at State Political Watchdog"

The San Diego Union-Tribune offers this report.
