On June 4, the District of Columbia Appeals Court
ruled that the D.C. Board of Elections must count
write-in votes for president cast in the Green Party
presidential primary of January 2004. The DC Board
had said it was sufficient to just announce the number
of write-ins cast. The Green Party wanted a tally of
who received those write-ins. Since over one-third of
the primary voters cast a write-in vote, there were
enough write-ins there to potentially affect who
should be chosen to be a delegate to the party's
national presidential convention to be held at the end
of June in Milwaukee. If anyone wants to read the
decision, I'll forward it to you upon your request.
The case was Best v DC Bd. of Elections.
