The San Jose Mercury News offers this
report,
which begins: "Democratic lawmakers and political reformers called
Friday for an expansion of California's narrowly crafted lobbying laws
after a report in the Mercury News that one of Gov. Arnold
Schwarzenegger's top campaign advisers has used his administration
access to help corporate clients without disclosing his influence."
The LA Times offers this
report, with the subhead: "Ruling means strict limits on donations
in three cities may finally take effect."
See this
news item,
which begins: "VANCOUVER — The B.C. Court of Appeal has upheld a
section of Canada's Election Act that prohibits posting of election
results before all the polls have closed. In a 2-1 decision released
Friday, Justice Anne Rowles of the B.C. Appeal Court wrote that
limiting freedom of expression caused by the Elections Act is
'demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society.'"
Dan Tokaji has the details and an opinion on the selection here.
