Does anyone have information regarding Rep. Sensenbrenner's scheduled VRA
reauthorization hearings?  There is nothing on the House Judiciary
Committee's schedule on the web about the Voting Rights Act, but the time
horizon for the schedule is only a couple days into the future.  A couple of
questions to ponder:  Is it possible that the political aftermath of Katrina
has put reauthorization on hold?  Is it possible that if Republicans intend
to extend the sunset date of Section 4 'covered jurisdiction' status that
they will move forward on reauthorization as a symbolic gesture?
