Important EAC Letter on HAVA Identification Requirements

Dan Tokaji has the letter, and excellent analysis, here.

"CRS' Fisher Reassigned Inside LOC"

Roll Call offers this report (paid subscription required), which begins: "Lou Fisher, a 35-year veteran of the Congressional Research Service who in recent months spoke out against agency policies that he said advocated neutrality and suppressed the analytical skills of researchers, learned last week that he was being reassigned to another branch of the Library of Congress. A CRS spokeswoman confirmed Tuesday that Fisher had been reassigned to work in the Law Library of Congress under Law Librarian Rubens Medina, but she said the agency would have no further comment on Fisher, who joined CRS in the early 1970s and became one of the agency’s top researchers specializing in separation of powers issues."

"Complaint filed on Schwarzenegger fundraiser"

The Orange County Register offers this report, which begins: "The California Democratic Party today filed a formal complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) requesting that they begin an immediate investigation into possible violations by Senator John McCain (R-Arizona) of the McCain-Feingold Act. The complaint stems from a large donor fundraising event with Sen. McCain on behalf of Gov. Schwarzenegger scheduled for March 20, 2006 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, where platinum sponsorships go for $100,000. The complaint alleges that Senator McCain violated his own federal campaign finance law which restricts federal officeholders from taking part in such political fundraisers."

"Reframing the Election Fraud Debate"

David Dill has posted this commentary, originally appearing on Tompaine.com.

"Federal court gets ballot suit; County says General Plan Initiative cases should be heard together"

The Monterey Herald offers this report.

"Calif. GOP halts fee-based voter registrations amid fraud probe"

A.P. offers this report, which begins: " California Republican Party officials say they've suspended their fee-based voter registration program while prosecutors in San Bernardino county investigate whether people were improperly signed up."
