In the only contribution I am able to make to this extended debate, I think it was Paul Newman in "Cool Hand Luke" -- a truly great old movie -- who referred to the "failure to communicate."  Perhaps Clint said it, too, but I think it came first from the Democrat rather than the Republican.
 

Actually folks, character actor Strother Martin said the memorable line to Newman.  I have no knowledge of Mr. Martin's politics, but one can only hope.....
