Electionline has posted this
press release from the EAC which reads in full as follows:
"Commissioner Martinez has been a tremendous asset to the Election Assistance Commission in its work to implement the Help America Vote Act. His absence at this time would be a loss to the nation, and I sincerely thank the Commissioner for his willingness to continue this work, which helps ensure the fairness and effective administration of the nation's elections," Senator Reid commented.
Commissioner Martinez, who currently serves as vice chair for the EAC, is a native of Texas and has spent most of his career in public service, working in the Clinton Administration as deputy assistant for Intergovernmental affairs at the White House and as regional director for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
