I
have heard (unconfirmed) that the Senate markup of the VRA bill is
coming in mid-July. Sen. Specter is hoping to have the bill on the
floor in the second half of July. The House timing remains a question.
Will's Washington Post column is here.
Samples' post at CATO is here.
Howard Bashman gives extensive links to redistricting coverage here, here, and here. See also links in today's The Note.
In addition to the items cited there, you can listen to Spencer Overton and Roger Clegg on the New Hour here. Michael McDonald has a Roll Call oped (paid subscription required). Abigail Thernstrom has written this Wall St. Journal oped. Bob Bauer writes here. OSU has posted this chart of the ruling. See this story in the SF Chronicle. Political Wire asks if we are ready for a redistricting boom.
I'm sure there's more to come....
The Hill offers this report, which begins: "The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is being accused of attempting to intimidate soft-money donors to 527s by targeting the donors for questioning."
