The Georgia legislature redrew several Senate districts earlier this year, making changes to the federal court-drawn plan (Larios case remedy).

The senate mid-decade redistricting was challenged in federal court, based on gerrymandering and mid-decade redistricting. A 3 judge panel rejected the challenge.

Subsequently, plaintiffs filed a challenge in state court where a trial court rejected the claim. I believe that the case is now on appeal to the Georgia Supreme Court. The state court action is based on state constitional language directing the legislature to redraw districts in the year after the federal census, etc.

The changes to the legislature's own congressional plan were made in 2005 and were not challenged in court.

I will provide case citations to the 2 Georgia cases later.

On a similar note, Georgia plaintiffs are appealing a state trial
court ruling on mid-decade state senate redistricting to the GA
Supreme Court, arguing that the state constitution bars such action.

Early on the plaintiffs in the Texas case argued that the midterm
redistricting violated the TX constitution. Of course the Supremes
could not address this issue. DId I miss something or was the Texas
con law claim never addressed in a state court?
