"Rep. Ney files paperwork, triggering special election"

The Hill offers this report.

"Campaign funding gets look; PANEL STUDIES HOW PUBLIC FINANCING COULD BE DEPLOYED EFFICIENTLY AND FAIRLY"

The San Jose Mercury News offers this report [Disclosure: I am consulting for the supporters of Prop. 89].

"'Soft money' advantage in TV ads goes to Smith"

The Palm Beach Post offers this report.

"Colorado Redistricting Lawsuit Dismissed"

This AP report (via Howard Bashman) begins: " A panel of federal judges has delivered a blow to Colorado Republicans and dismissed the last lawsuit filed over congressional boundaries imposed by a state court." The three-judge court opinion will interest those who believe the Elections Clause provides a good basis for challenging political gerrymandering. Republican lawyers will next appeal to the Supreme Court, where I would predict a summary affirmance.

"Has Bush v. Gore Become the Case That Must Not Be Named?"

Adam Cohen has written this NY Times column.
