The Stand By Your Ad disclaimer for candidates is an incentive under McCain-Feingold to receive the lowest unit charge for broadcast ads--it's not technically a mandate.

It also does not apply to web ads, only broadcast communications.

Are there exceptions to the rule? If so, what are they? Is a simple "paid for by...." in writing enough to satisfy McCain-Feingold?
