I am looking for sources that provide an overview of how election results are reported from polling stations to county boards and then to state boards on election day. Have any comparative studies/tables been done on this?

 

The reporting requirements will of course vary from state to state, but would it be a plausible assumption that there may be variance within states (and what would account for that variance)?
