Yes, I'm looking for information on how the results are transmitted.
 
I spoke with a colleague who said that in NY, precincts used to call county officials and report the results. But I'm guessing this was a function of the type of voting equipment used (lever machines). Now, with most of the country on optical scan and DREs, the transmition is going to be done entirely electronically I suppose (and that varies by machine type), correct?

I suspect list members will need more details on what you mean by "how election results are reported".

Do you mean how they are transmitted (by electronic means [and if electronic, encrypted or not]); by physical transport of a memory card; by physical transport of a numerical tally; or some combination.  And so on up the line.
