Former Member of the UK Parliament (and university professor) David Chaytor has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for wrongly claiming reimbursement for £22,660 (currently $35,254). Others may be tried and convicted in coming months, following a decision of the UK Supreme Court in December that in these matters MPs are not protected from prosecution under the 1688 Bill of Rights.
