Tonight the Texas house passed a voter ID bill. It still has to get
through a conference committee and signed by the governor, but these
will happen.
Are there people/groups willing and able to challenge the statute in
court? At http://ballots.blogspot.com/2011/03/tonight-texas-house-passed-voter-id.html
I've noted some state constitutional provisions that might serve as
the basis for a challenge. I did not see an annotated Texas
constitution online and don't have one handy. I don't know the case
law.
I welcome people's thoughts, on or off list. I'm also interested in
what anyone thinks about 24th Amendment issues. - Robbin Stewart.
