Jeffrey Toobin on The Supreme Court's Campaign Finance Jurisprudence

Here in the New Yorker. He concludes: "So the vulgar truth about Citizens United, the doomed Arizona law, and related future cases remains: the five Justices appointed by Republicans are thrashing the four appointed by Democrats--to the enormous advantage of the G.O.P. Well, I am sure sorry that Justices O'Connor and Stevens are off the Court. Otherwise it would be a vote of 7 to 2 for the Republicans. Opps, they were on the side of the Democrats in McConnell, etc.

Well, then, I sure am glad that Justices Douglas, Black, Marshall are off the Court, or it would be a vote of 7 to 2 for the Democrats. Opps, they were on the side of, well, the First Amendment and the Republicans.

I am definitely sorry that Brennan is off the Court. That partisan rigid conservative Republican would have .  . Opps, he was a flaming liberal, but at least he would have sided with the Republicans -- on this one and only thing.  Jim
