UPDATE: It looks like the Roll Call article misstated the FEC's support for closing the FEC. Here is the letter. It is clearly a response to a question from Rep. Brady about whether the FEC could take on certain functions of the EAC should Congress close the EAC. It was not an endorsement of closing the EAC.

Budget cuts as an excuse to deal with a federal-state/local turf war. The most interesting part of the article: "While the legislation has proponents and opponents in the House, it appears to have bipartisan support from the FEC. The agency wrote a letter last month to House Administration ranking member Robert Brady (D-Pa.) endorsing the idea of taking over some of the EAC’s responsibilities." At least members of the FEC can agree on something!
