If I didn't recognize Jim's comment as the joke I am sure it was intended to be, I might take offense at Jim's patented method of painting everyone who diagrees with him as a sworn enemy of the First Amendment, dedicated to imposing an authoritarian regime (of either the right or the left) on the Land of the Free, ready to lock up all true patriots.
. But since I know Jim was just inspired by Colberian humor, I will simply respond that I do not seek to criminalize office-holder selling of access, and campaign finance corruption that results in the sale of official government action to the highest bidder (or best IE threatener) . Instead, all those particiating in such activity will just be sentenced to spend time listening to Jim explain why that is the sort of of government the founding fathers intended!

Since Trevor thinks all political activity is illegal, at least in spirit,
we don't have to worry about Colbert actually doing anything. Jim Bopp

well-regarded atty for his Super PAC, Trevor Potter. Big get for Caplin &

Is he serious? Who cares! Stephen Colbert announces intent to form an
Independent Expenditure-only PAC (Super PAC) to "run political ads."
