In a previous message I listed George Meany as one who opposed collective bargaining for public employees. He may have done so in 1955, but my thanks go to Jerald Lentini for sending me a speech Meany gave in 1957 in which, implicitly, at least, he endorsed collective bargaining for such employees. However, he specifically said public employees should not have the right to strike.
