Welcome to the Law-election@department-lists.uci.edu mailing list! The
ELECTION-LAW list is an Internet Listserv residing at the University
of California, Irvine. This list is for general discussion of
substantive and pedagogical issues related to election law and the
design and reform of electoral institutions. The list managers are
Daniel Lowenstein of UCLA Law School and Rick Hasen of UC Irvine
School of Law.

The group is a private one, which consists primarily of academics who
teach courses or write about questions related to these subjects, and
lawyers who practice in related areas. Others also may join, subject
to the approval of the list manager.

In addition to providing a forum for discussion of general issues
relating to the subject matter, the list is intended to serve as a
place where subscribers can discuss ideas they have for scholarship,
works in progress, and problems they are encountering in teaching and
conducting research.

Members also are encouraged to share information about new books or
articles and new judicial, legislative and administrative developments
related to election law and the design and reform of electoral
institutions.

Subscribers affiliated with organizations that provide web-based or
other resources related to election-law are welcome to post a notice
of those resources when they start up and once a year thereafter, each
August.

Members of the press may subscribe to the listserv and may describe
in general terms the substance of discussion on the list, but should
not quote posted comments or attribute ideas to specific individuals
without the consent of the individuals.

Discussions on the listserv are often contentious, but they are
conducted in a civil manner. The proprietors reserve the right to
expel or otherwise discipline subscribers whose postings are in their
judgment uncivil or otherwise objectionable.
