I think the point is not that people who in engage in political speech
should not expect others not to vehemently respond, but that when the
government creates an on-line database of political activity that
facilitates such responses up to and including financial harm, violence
or threats of violence, that facilitation constitutes an abridgement of
free speech.

Ah, c'mon.
My organization has received more mail than that several times.
Political speech
gets people riled up. If the Tea Party, or any other party, person or
organization takes a controversial stance the normal consequence will be
getting lots of mail, phone calls, etc.
You should experience my cell phone at election time. Doesn't matter if
it's 2
a.m. on a Sunday or midnight on a weekday, some people always just have
to
express themselves.

Government is the servant of the people, and not the master of them. The
people, in delegating authority, do not give their public servants the
right
to decide what is good for the people to know and what is not good for
them to
know. We insist on remaining informed so that we may retain control over
the
instruments of government we have created.
Black Box Voting is a nonpartisan, nonprofit 501c(3) elections watchdog
group
funded entirely by citizen donations.
